Mrs. Jennifer Troiano
DIRECTOR OF PROSPECT CHOIRS

Jennifer Troiano is the Director of Choral Music and show choirs at Prospect High School. Mrs. Troiano is originally from Lake Zurich, Illinois, and holds Bachelor degrees in Vocal Performance from The University of Illinois, Champaign and a B.M.E. in Music Education from Illinois State University, Normal. Mrs. Troiano has studied vocal technique with Ms. Sara Arneson and Dr. Katherine DeBoer (University of Illinois), Ms. Elizabeth Barnabe (Milikin University). Mrs. Troiano has also studied conducting techniques with Dr. James Major, Dr. Kathleen Keenan-Tekagi and Mr. Brett Peppo (Illinois State).

Mrs. Troiano has participated in many choral ensembles at both of her alma maters including show choir at Millikin University and Opera Chorus at The University of Illinois. She was featured in the cast of Verdi’s “La Traviata” for an opera house in Hambach, Germany. Mrs. Troiano’s professional affiliations include Music Educators National Conference and American Choral Directors Association.

Mrs. Troiano has taught voice lessons for 8 years and has been teaching 7. She has been the choral director at Prospect for the past 5 years. At Prospect, Mrs. Troiano has the pleasure of directing the Concert Choir, Varsity Choir, Treble Choir, Chamber Choir, Madrigal Singers, and Mixed Company and Company.

Mr. Stephen Colella
DIRECTOR OF PROSPECT CHOIRS

A product of District 214, and a graduate of Elk Grove high school, Stephen is thrilled to be back where it all began. Mr. Colella earned his BFA in Musical Theatre performance form the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music, and recently completed his Masters and teaching certification from North Park University, where he studied under nationally acclaimed music educator, Dr. Rollo Dilworth.

Having been involved in the performing arts his entire life, Mr. Colella has been fortunate to have experiences performing on national tours in the United States, Canada, Asia, Germany, and the Ukraine.

Stephen spent six years working on Broadway being mentored from the industries top composers, actors, and directors.

He has had the honor of working with Mr. Stephen Sondheim two times, and the privilege of sharing the stage with Broadway Tony award winning actors Patti Lupone, Audra McDonald, Michael Cerveris, John Mahoney, and Sutton Foster.

As a teacher, Mr. Colella spent five years at his alma mater, Elk Grove high school, directing all their plays, musicals, and coaching their Speech Team (State Championship, 2009).

Stephen is thrilled to be pursuing his first passion of teaching, and is so grateful for this opportunity to be back again with an amazingly strong music faculty.
